Not far from the famous towns of the Costa Smeralda, Golfo Aranci is a pretty seaside resort at the foot of the Capo Figari promontory, known for its beautiful white sandy beaches. Unlike what it might seem, there are no orange trees here; in fact, the name comes from a mistranslation from the Sardinian dialect “Golfu di li Ranci,” meaning Gulf of Crabs. The town lies on a tongue of land in the middle of the sea overlooking the Gulf of Olbia, within a naturalistic oasis habitat for mouflon and rare birds, ideal for diving and trekking.
